From the shadows of Chicago, Vick Luna carries a raw swagger on his horn, reflective of northwest Indiana’s post-industrial soul. A disciple of movements like Salsa Dura (hard salsa), Hard Bop, Soul, and Funk, Vick fuses his Chicano heritage and deep influence of Black American music to create the foundation for his artistic expression.

Vick Luna has performed at venues such as The Jazz Kitchen, The Chatterbox, The Palladium, The Blockhouse, Navy Pier, and has performed in Carmel Jazz, Indy Jazz, and Bitter Jester Festivals. A member of bands including Pavel & Direct Contact, Sleepy Richard Floyd’s Explorations in Afrobeat, IU Soul Revue, and 317 Proyecto, Vick has shared the stage with notable musicians like Rob Dixon, Marlin McKay, Angel Subero, Steve Dokken, Steve Davis, Michael Dease, Tadd Robinson, and the Los Adolescentes Orchestra.

Currently, Vick is studying at the Jacobs School of Music, while performing regularly in Indianapolis and throughout the Midwest. He has studied with Grammy-nominated trombonist and arranger Wayne Wallace, as well as distinguished trombonist and arranger Freddie Mendoza. Vick has also been a catalyst in Bloomington’s music scene, taking a year to direct MOONROOF, a house venue showcasing the area’s finest young musicians.
